Jeff Jorgge
Professor Jeff Jorgge is the Founder and Head Instructor of East Coast Mixed Martial Arts & Fitness (ECMMA), where he has spent more than a decade building one of Long Island's premier martial arts academies. As a dedicated coach, competitor, entrepreneur, and mentor, Jeff has devoted his life to helping children and adults discover the lifelong benefits of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, boxing, and fitness.
Jeff's athletic journey began at the age of 13 when he started boxing, but organized sports have been a part of his life since childhood. He played football throughout his youth before going on to play semi-professional football. His passion for coaching eventually led him to serve as the volunteer Head Coach of the Hicksville Crusaders, where he helped develop young athletes and further strengthened his commitment to mentoring the next generation.
His competitive martial arts résumé is equally impressive. Jeff is a multiple-time IBJJF Gold Medalist who has earned gold medals at every belt level in IBJJF competition throughout the United States. In 2023, he achieved one of his greatest accomplishments by winning the IBJJF No-Gi World Championship in both his weight class and the Absolute Division.
Today, Jeff continues to train, teach, and coach at ECMMA seven days a week. While competition has always been a passion, his greatest fulfillment comes from developing people. He is deeply committed to helping children build confidence, discipline, respect, and resilience through martial arts, while also helping adults improve their health, reduce stress, and become more confident both on and off the mats.
Outside of the academy, Jeff has built a successful executive career in the fintech industry, serving as an Executive Vice President. As someone who balances a demanding professional career with family, business ownership, and daily training, he understands firsthand the challenges working adults face and has built ECMMA to accommodate students from all walks of life.
In 2019, Jeff faced the toughest challenge of his life when he was diagnosed with aggressive colon cancer. Through faith, determination, and an unwavering mindset, he overcame the disease and emerged with an even deeper appreciation for health, purpose, and perseverance. That experience continues to shape the way he teaches, reminding every student that true strength is built through adversity.
Today, Professor Jeff Jorgge leads ECMMA with one mission: to build confident children, disciplined adults, successful competitors, and stronger families through the life-changing power of martial arts.
"The goal isn't just to build champions on the mat—it's to build champions in life."
For over 14 years, Professor Jeff has remained committed to being on the mats every day, leading by example and proving that discipline, consistency, and service are the foundation of both martial arts and life.
